I only learned about Ms. Trout after reading her obituary in the newspaper. I cut it out and kept it because she was such a pioneer. What an incredible life she led.

I was fortunate to meet Bobbie in 2002 at the celebration of Women in Aviation at the Santa Monica Airport. I was impressed with the youth and vigor of the then 92 year old aviatrix who still told stories with the enthusiasm and vigor of a twenty something.

I loved her spirit and knowledge. She had a mind that remained sharp and I will always treasure the brief moment we shared as she told me about the 1929 Powder Puff Races. I'm sure it was a story she must of related thousands of times, but her sharp wit and descriptive flair made me feel like I was right there with her, spitting out oil and blessing the tailwinds.
